Dropping health care good for your health?
“For the sake of those dying people” I figured I would take a look into some possible causes. You have probably heard that 40,000 people a year die because they do not have health care. I found this an interesting connection. Over a million people die each year with heath care. It got me thinking.
According to the Census bureau website there were 46.3 million people without heath care (page 27) last year and 255.1 million people with heath care. The last death rate numbers they have posted is 2005 at 2.448 million. Looking back to 2005 the census bureau posts 45.9million uninsured (Table 8). That gives us a death rate of 1 in 1157 for uninsured and 1 in 104 for the insured. Yep, the death rate of those with health care is 10 times that of those without. Everyone..TIME TO DROP YOUR HEATH CARE!!!!
All this really proves is that those trying to push Health Care Reform are simply throwing out numbers that sound outrageous. Building a simple cause and effect relationship in such a complex system as health care, coverage and death rates is rediculous.

A wonderful example of how statistics can be abused. I think your point that advocates of Health Care Reform are simply throwing out numbers without any understanding of the basis or rationale is on target. Keep up the good analyses.
