Does he really believe this??? [Insert robotic monotone here.] WE ARE ALL EQUAL. WE ARE ALL THE SAME. NOONE IS SPECIAL. VICTIMS OF LIFE’S LOTTERY [End monotone]. Blah Blah Blah…. Except ME!

What about politicians, media representatives? He justifies that athletes are special so they deserve to be paid millions. Does he see himself as having any special skill for his job? Does he think Merideth and Matt could be replaced with anyone? (Ok, that might be rhetorical.) Does it not matter if they are doing the job or it is done by anyone else? Therefore, why should he be paid more than, say, the guy at a car wash or a hotel chain. Does he really believe that all people are of equal value and equally capable?

B.S. The fact is everyone is unique. Everyone brings a different take on any job even with the same training. It is those subtle changes and insincts for your daily work that are the difference between good and great. Read Good to Great or MegaTrends or the biographies of many (if not all) athletes. Yes, it starts with ability and training, but the real difference comes from the inside. It about attitude and putting forth 100% of yourself every day. When you have someone with that talent for a particular job, the wise employer does everything possible to keep them, for they are RARE and SPECIAL.

We used to wish we could be, endeavor to be and learn from the habits of such people. Now, we don’t like their success and we downplay those with the drive. Sad.

P.S. I am available to run the Today Show whenever they like and I won’t demand nearly so much.
